It is a pleasure to meet your acquaintance.
In 2015, I was given the official pre-diabetes diagnosis. This was something that came unexpectantly as I did not recognize the specified symptoms and thought that I was going through menopause. Turns out I was, but hormonal imbalances were also compounded by an elevated A1C.
Growing up having to administer 2 different forms of insulin to my mother 4 times a day, scared me into reality and I made the decision to fight for better outcomes.
With the support of the proper health professionals to include nutrition coaching, three months after adopting a healthier lifestyle, I was able to bring my numbers back on track and avoid prescribed medications.
I am not perfect, and every day is a battle. I find myself constantly researching and fine tuning to improve and maintain the achieved accomplishments.
One of the most impactful lessons I learned was the importance of sustainability. I do not advocate for quick fixes or extreme measures.
Instead, I teach how to make gradual, meaningful changes that fit into your daily life. For example, rather than cutting out entire food groups, we will focus on portion control and mindful eating.
